I’ve missed writing so much. How are you all doing? I’ve been trying to live my best life and find things to be inspired about to write.

Today I wanted to talk about the difference between Social Media and Reality.

In the age that we live  in, social media plays a critical role in how we live our lives.  It is so easy to get sucked into the visual representations, people’s lavish lifestyles, and the idea of perfection that often comes with social media.

Before you begin to compare yourself to the people that you see on social media, I just wanted to give you all a quick reminder.

1. Social Media Is Only A Glimpse of People’s Lives:

As much as we stay on social media in this generation, we have moments of our lives where we are not sharing. For the most part, people on social media only share the highlights of their lives. Not many people will want to disclose their heartbreaks, failures, stresses and more for the world to see. That’s the harsh truth. Even if they are professional vloggers, they edit out the parts of their lives they don’t want you to see. Don’t feel about about yourself if all that you see of a person is positive things. Trust me, they have bad days and moments too.

2.  The Bow Wow Effect

A couple of months ago, #BowWowChallenge went viral. For those of you who don’t know about it, Bow Wow posted a picture on Instagram which made it seem as though he was about to board his own private jet. However, the reality of it was that he was on a commercial flight. What I’m trying to get at is that people often put up a front on social media.  This is particularly true about body images on social media. There are so many editing apps, filters, Photoshop tools and more that can make people look thinner, and more toned. Take every image that you see with a grain of salt.

SnapChat is also a major deceptor and user of the Bow Wow Effect.  There have been so many times where I went to an event that was pretty dead and someone will go to the same event and make it seem like they are having the time of their lives.  It’s the idea of giving off a certain persona and image.

3.  Don’t Be Discouraged By The Numbers

Never get your validation from social media likes. At the end of the day,  have confidence knowing that you have worth, despite what people “like” or comment about you. The reality is that there is often a certain type of post that will receive more likes. Rather than trying to learn that algorithm, be genuine and original with your posts. You don’t have to fit in with the trends, just to receive more likes.

For example, bikini photos often receive a lot of attention. I’m not saying that they are bad, but if you are not comfortable exposing your body on the internet, don’t do it.

At the end of the day, likes are subjective. At the end of your life no one is going to give an account of how many likes, retweets, or shares one receives.

In the grand scheme of things, that is not important.

New Month, New Blessings

October 2017 Post


Hey guys,

I want to start off by saying sorry for being MIA these past few weeks. From experiencing Hurricane Irma, to school, and extracurriculars, I have been a busy woman.

Also, HAPPY NEW MONTH! I just wanted to come and speak blessings over your life.  I am shook that we are already in October. God is good. That means, you have 2 months left to make 2017 your best year yet. So how do you utilize this fresh new month to gather fresh new blessings. I’ll give you the plug.

1. Re-organize Your Goals:

You may have been on and off with your resolutions for this year.  If you really want to make the most of the last two months, I would suggest re-writing the goals that are a MUST or priority to accomplish this year. For example, I have to admit, I am slightly  behind on my bible in one year reading plan. This month, I’m going to take the extra time to catch up. Re-organizing your goals also helps you to make an inventory of what you have accomplished, and what still needs to be done.

2.  Persevere:

This year may have been a rough year for you. You may be going through some trials that make you unsure of yourself. However,  don’t give up on this year because it is almost the end. Persevere till the end and know that you still have 2 more months to make the most out of it. Don’t lose sight of the goals that you have set for yourself.  You can’t have a test without a testimony. Troubles don’t last always. So stick it out. There is a light at the end of the tunnel.

3.  Work On Self-Care:

Fall and winter months are the times when people become the most depressed.  The lack of sun and the colder weather doesn’t always have the best impact on people.  This month, make an effort to update or be consistent with your self-care regimen. Whether it’s taking 15 minutes a day to meditate,  exercising, or doing a weekly face mask, take some time to take care of yourself, emotionally, spiritually and physically.


Prayer For The New Month:

I pray that this month and the rest of the year, will be the best of the year for you.

I pray for breakthrough academically, spiritually, financially, physically, and more.

I pray that you will not lack, but live in abundance.

I pray that doors that need to be opened will be opened and those that need to be shut will be shut.

I pray that the sorrow you experienced in the last month, will not continue into this month.

I pray for protection, peace and overall well-being.
