How To Avoid Gaining Weight This Thanksgiving and Holiday Season

Thanksgiving Blog

Hey guys,

For my readers in America, we know that Thanksgiving is just around the corner.  Although this is a time to reflecting on things we are grateful for,  for most the highlight is the food.  Holiday eating often makes us pack on the pounds before the new year. Well, to avoid tipping the scale, here are some tips to keep your waistline in check this Thanksgiving.

1.Choose Only The Things That You REALLY Love  to Eat:

Oftentimes we become so gluttonous with the bounty of food at our display. However, more likely than not you really don’t care too much for that green bean casserole or dish that you just put on your plate. Be selective of what you eat. For example, if there’s a certain specialty dish that you know you’ll only eat during the holidays, by all means, eat it.  But don’t get in the habit of eating everything just because it’s there.

2.  Watch Your Portion Sizes

I’m a big believer of eating things in moderation. I totally understand. It’s the holidays,  great food will be present. BUT,  when you do eat things that are decadent, be cautious of how much you eat.  That means put the cap on 1-2 plates a meal.  Also, if something is very rich and fattening,  get half the size of a regular serving. At the end of the day are you going to choose your tastebuds or your health.

3.  Choose Your Favorite Dessert, That’s All

I have a sweet tooth, but I have to watch out for eating sugary foods in excess to prevent diabetes. So, this year I’m not going to skip out on dessert. But, I will choose the dessert that I want the most and call it a day. Sugar adds up and can really do a lot of havoc on your body.

Those are my main tips for avoiding weight gain during the holidays. If you have any questions or tips of your own, please feel free to reach out to me via the comments and contact section.

Have  a wonderful Thanksgiving.
